CATALYST Short-Listed For LEED-Platinum National Wildlife Refuge Visitor's Center

Catalyst Architecture, LLC has been selected to a short list of architectural teams, which will be competing for the privilege of designing the National Desert Wildlife Refuge Visitor’s Center to be located at Corn Creek, Nevada. The Visitor’s Center is expected to be between 10,000 and 17,000 square feet when completed, and will be constructed to achieve a minimum LEED-Platinum level rating, the highest rating possible under the USGBC's LEED Green Building Rating System.

Catalyst Architecture's longstanding reputation for environmentally and culturally sensitive designs has allowed the firm to successfully compete for numerous interpretive center project types including the Yavapai-Apache Cultural Center, the Highlands Center for Natural History, as well as the Hualapai Nation Cultural & Visitor's Center- currently in progress.

The
Nevada Wildlife Refuge Visitor’s Center site features three spring fed ponds, which support a myriad of wildlife and plants.  People have been drawn to the site since Native American times, and it is the intent of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to protect and preserve the site by providing an educational and administrative facility at Corn Creek.

Prescott-based Catalyst Architecture specializes in master planning, public, educational, commercial, and custom-residential work.  Firm principals Matthew B. Ackerman, LEED AIA, and Jeffrey L. Zucker, LEED AIA emphasize earth-conscious design and are accredited by the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. Together, they are one of the Southwest’s most experienced sustainable design teams.
