Matthew
B. Ackerman was born in Chicago and grew up in the Carolinas. In 1980,
Matt was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture from the
Georgia Institute of Technology after spending his senior year of study
at the Ecole Des Beaux Arts in Paris. In 1985, Matt received his Master
of Architecture in Urban Design from the University of Texas at Austin.
With active registration in both California and Arizona, Matt brings
over 20 years of design experience to residential, office, retail,
hospitality, master planning, and mixed-use projects. A Prescott
resident since 1997, Matt served as the Design Principal in The
Architects Guild, Zucker + Ackerman Architects, and Browning Moore
Zucker Ackerman. In September of 2003, Matt opened the doors to
CATALYST ARCHITECTURE, providing creative, thoughtful design with an
emphasis on earth-friendly building and caring client relationships.
With a growing commitment to "green" building and high performance
construction technologies, Matt was awarded the US Green Building
Council's LEED professional accreditation in the spring of 2003, making
Matt the first LEED accredited architect in Yavapai County. As 2007
Chairman of the AIA Grand Canyon Chapter of COTE (Committee on the
Environment), and a Advisory Board member of CAZREN (Central Arizona
Renewable Energy Network), Matt is an advocate for the advancement of
sustainable planning, design and building practices. Matt is committed
to creating uniquely comfortable living, playing, and working spaces
that place us in harmony with our neighbors, our communities, and our
environment.
